On the banks of the River Yealm we helped our client build a unique boat house to accommodate a rib and crane along with smaller craft and leisure equipment. The existing quay housed a small shed which was demolished to make way for the new boat house which sits into the hillside to minimise its impact. On the outside the design is beautifully simple and reminiscent of old boat houses and traditional wooden barns. However, inside lies a clever configuration of storage and a mechanical hoist to raise and lower a small boat to and from the water.
